Daily 5 - Work on Writing

This week we introduced Work on Writing in both kindergarten classrooms.  The students have already been introduced to Read to Self, Word Work, Listen to Reading, so they are familiar with the expectations of this time in our classroom.  It is hard to believe that 5 and 6 year olds can be quiet all working at the same time independently but  come visit our room and you will see, it is possible.  We could not be more proud of them.  Here are some more pictures of our fabulous kiddos!  Remember:THE MORE YOU READ THE BETTER READER YOU WILL BE and THE MORE YOU WRITE THE BETTER WRITER YOU WILL BE!

Teddy bear week

This week we focused on the letter T and students brought in teddy bears! We measured the teddy bears, sorted them, and also compared them! Math is always more fun when it's hands on.

Popcorn Words

One way to help children learn their sight words (popcorn words) is to put them to music.  Here is one video we watch at school.  There are some additional words in this but most of the words are the same ones we study.  Have fun learning!

Yeah! Our first movie created by our kindergartners is finished.  We are so proud of them!  Our directors did a fabulous job directing our actors and holding the camera.  The production crew made beautiful sets and our actors did a fine job memorizing their lines.  I hope you enjoy!
