Holiday Parties

Both Kindergarten classes are so fortunate to have amazing parents who planned and helped out with the holiday party! We couldn't have done it without you! Thank you so much for all of your time and effort:).  The kids had such a blast!

Letters to soldiers

The Kindergarteners paired up with their fourth grade buddies to write letters to soldiers who would not be able to be home for the Holidays. This was an all school event and everyone did such an amazing job! The letters will be sent along with care packages to soldiers serving overseas in the Marines.

Whose Child is This?

Whose Child is This?

Whose child is this?" I asked one day
Seeing a little one out at play
"Mine", said the parent with a tender smile
"Mine to keep a little while
To bathe his hands and comb his hair
To tell him what he is to wear
To prepare him that he may always be good
And each day do the things he should"

"Whose child is this?" I asked again
As the door opened and someone came in
"Mine", said the teacher with the same tender smile
"Mine, to keep just for a little while
To teach him how to be gentle and kind
To train and direct his dear little mind
To help him live by every rule
And get the best he can from school"

"Whose child is this?" I ask once more
Just as the little one entered the door
"Ours" said the parent and the teacher as they
smiled
And each took the hand of the little child
"Ours to love and train together
Ours this blessed task forever."

MAP assessment

In January we will be taking a computer test in Math and Language Arts called  MAP (Measures of Academic Progress ).
Here is a link that is a practice for primary children.  You can have your child familiarize themselves with this assessment. We will also be practicing in school on how to take this test.  Thank you!

Gifts from the heart

In Kindergarten we have been discussing gifts we can give this holiday season that don't necessarily cost money after reading The Giving Tree. We have learned that the best kind of gifts are the ones that don't cost anything and come  from our hearts. Each student wrote a few gifts they can give friends and family that don't cost any money. We then "wrapped" their presents and they are decorating our doors. We have such thoughtful students! :)

Where in the World is the Gingerbread man?

This week we started our Gingerbread man
unit!  We will be reading a lot of  fun stories such as the Gingerbread Man, Gingerbread Girl, The Gingerbread Cowboy, Gingerbread Friends, and Gingerbread Baby!  The gingerbread man ran away and we are chasing him around the world.  We first found him in India where we learned about the celebration of Diwali.  Then he was spotted in Sweden, where he was celebrating St. Lucia Day!  Where will he be next?  Next week we will find out.
